A rhythmic treat, all clicking and shuffling with bongos and congas aplenty, Tambores De Cuba’s ‘Afro Frenetic is a tribal thrum, a pulsating journey that almost feels like you are prying into another world and further research reveals that this is music descended from Africa (Nigeria to be precise) played on bata drums and still something that can be witnessed today. Back in the late ‘50s this recording must have sounded completely out there which is where it thankfully remains – a buried treasure, no less.
