A New York city based band leader, Ralph Font was smitten by all things Latin, eventually moving to Puerto Rico. During the 1950s at his residency at the Raleigh Hotel, his band and he perfected the various emerging dance trends from the continent and collected them on a handful of albums mainly based around the cha-cha and mambo. ‘Tabu’ extends the brief and includes even more exotic journeys, the play off between percussion and band being the real winner.
