Like Martin Denny, Chick Floyd was another resident performer at Don The Beachcomber’s place in Hawaii who grabbed a brief recording contract on the Exotica bandwagon. The sleeve of his second album, ‘Little Grass Shack’ claims that his music “creates irresistible pictures of island romance” and the marimba’s and Hawaiian guitar certainly underline that on this set of mainly traditional Hawaiian tunes. It’s an authentic exotic groove that’s “faraway from freeways, polluted air, scurrying people and nervous investigation”
